Jo lives in Market Rasen and plays the organ, piano, keyboard, autoharp, sings and composes music. She is currently learning the violin.

Jo recently composed and played all the music for the Lindsey Rural Players performance of The Miser freely adapted by Sean Foley and Phil Porter. She was Musical Director for the Wizard of Oz Panto at the Broadbent Theatre, Wickenby. She also arranges songs and hymns for the World Day of Prayer, England, Wales and Northern Island.

Jo provided entertainment for the Faldingworth WI 85th Anniversary party, with songs from World War II. On a number of occasions she has led the singing at the Carry on Singing (Dementia Support Group) Open Day in Middle Rasen Church Hall.

Jo is organist at Holy Rood Catholic Church playing for 11.00am Mass most Sundays. She has also recently played for services at St Francis De Sales Church, Hainton, St Thomas’s Church, Market Rasen, St Wilfrid’s Church, Metheringham, St Hybald’s Church, Hibaldstow and St Peter’s Church, Doddington. She has played for weddings and funerals at Holy Rood Catholic Church, Market Rasen, Market Rasen Methodist Church, St Thomas More Church, Caistor, St Peter’s Church, Doddington, St Andrew’s United Church, Kirton Lindsey and St Lawrence Church, Skellingthorpe.

Jo sings with Lincoln Choral Society and The Starring Lincoln Theatre Group and was a member of the semi chorus who sang with the massed choirs of Lincoln in Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem in Lincoln Cathedral in November 2018.

History

Jo studied piano under Dorothy Hare and Anne Holmes and organ under Barry Ferguson.

She was organist at Egerton United Reformed Church, Market Rasen Methodist Church. She has played for numerous weddings and funerals, playing the music and hymns requested by the families on pipe organs in many different church across the UK.

As accompanist for Ulverston Amateur Operatic Society Jo played the piano on the Julian Clary show. She has accompanied various choirs and soloists including Carry on Chorus, which was a group of about 30 singers based in Market Rasen that met each year from May to July to sing part songs based on different themes.

She has sung with the Halle Choir, the Newcastle Bach Choir, the Leeds Philharmonic Society. She recently starred as part of the small ensemble in Jekyll and Hyde and The Hunchback of Notre Dame in Lincoln Cathedral. Jo has performed the leading role in several amateur operatic shows including Yum Yum in the Mikado, Raquellita in Viva Mexico, Marianne in New Moon and Marinque in The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
